When applying to copy or loan materials whose period of copyright protection has not expired, you must submit a “Film usage agreement contract”, together with other documents such as the application form and the film material user’s guide.

Loaned release prints may be screened twice at most. A loan application may be rejected if it does not serve the purpose of film preservation at KOFA.

Process

  1. Check the archiving status of materials

Search the title of a film on KMDb and check in which kind of material — film, d-cinema or image — it is archived at KOFA.

    Search KMDb
  2. Inquire about the condition of materials and arrange a schedule

Ask whether the archived materials can be copied or loaned. You can check the cost of the service below.

    E-mailcopy@koreafilm.or.kr
  3. Submit the related documentsAgreement contract required

Complete and sign the application form with the film material user’s guide, and submit them with a film usage agreement contract signed by the copyright holder. Loans of films require additional documents.

  4. Get notification of the result of your application

The person in charge reviews your application and notifies you of the result.

  5. Pay the material copying / loan fee

The fee is paid in USD, converted at the exchange rate on the date the invoice is issued.

  6. Receive and return the hard disk drive or loaned films

All fares and taxes incurred by the shipment of materials are paid by the user.

Cost

The material copying / loan fee should be paid in USD. The total amount will be notified after conversion at the exchange rate on the date the invoice is issued.
