Sorrow Even Up in Heaven
2014. It was the most popular Korean movie in 1965, which the press touted as the “best year for Kim Su-yong” as a director, and caused a trend for other producers to make various non-fiction memoirs from this point. Internationally, this movie was exported to Taiwan, etc., and was very popular in other countries, and it is also known that the Japanese director Oshima Nagisa was inspired by this movie to produce a short movie called “Yun-bok’s Diary.”
Not to be missed in this DVD is the interview with the director, conducted by Professor Kim So-yeong of the Korea National University of Arts, which explains his motivation for the production, filming episodes and various stories surrounding the movie’s production. Furthermore, there are also comments by the director on the child actors who starred in the movie in an affectionate tone.
