Film censorship during the Colonial Rule Period (1910~1934)

The Korean Film Archive planned and published the Censorship of 「Films During the Colonial Rule Period (1910~1934)」 as part of efforts to collect the basic research materials necessary for more dynamic research on film censorship practice during the Imperial Japanese regime. Editors of this book poured all their energies into completing this book over a year while gathering a wide range of materials and pushing through with seminars.

This book includes censorship regulations published in the official gazette of the Joseon Governor-General’s Office and enforced by the Joseon Governor-General’s Office and each provincial government as well as Japan’s related regulations. It also contains excerpts of censorship-related essays from magazines, etc., written by censors who worked for censorship agencies. Note that the book contains the translation of the entire text of 「Introduction to Motion Picture Film Censorship」 published by the Joseon Governor-General’s Office in 1931.
