This book unveils a hidden chapter of new film history, offering a detailed overview of the rise and fall of the film industry over a 20-year period, which saw a spurt in growth following the establishment of Shin Sang-ok Production and Seoul Film Company in the 1950s, emergence of new films (at that time, those film companies were collectively called “new films”), and decline triggered by the revocation of certification due to the conflict with Park Chung Hee's regime.
Furthermore, this book examines the correlation between the government’s policy toward the Korean film industry and the ups and downs of new films at that time, providing a snapshot of the Korean film industry during the period between the 1960s and 1970s.
