Joseon Films in Newspaper Articles 1921~1922

As the 3rd issue of the series that chronologically arranged news articles related to films, plays, and entertainment from the newspapers of Joseon circulated during the 36-year Imperial Japanese Colonial Rule, this book offers a vast collection of news articles related to films and entertainment, which were carried in Meilsinbo from 1921 to 1922. While focusing on news stories about movies, it also includes news articles and advertisements related to theater, troupe, and filmslide groups -- which are essential in having a better understanding of the early history of movies -- and selectively contains articles that give a glimpse of plays including old plays and activities of troupes, Korean geisha, and contributions from readers. Note that the book contains news articles related to the Enlightenment propaganda disseminated via motion pictures as part of the cultural rule of the Joseon Governor-General’s Office, foundation of Joseon Theater, and other related news stories. ？
